Furnace Repair Tailored for Vinton, OH Conditions

Thermostat won't turn the furnace on? Here is what is usually behind it. Blank screen: swap the batteries. If it stays dark, the thermostat has probably lost its 24-volt supply, often from a blown low-voltage fuse on the furnace control board. Screen lit, no heat: confirm it is set to heat and no schedule or hold is overriding it. Make sure the furnace door is seated, since its safety switch cuts power when loose. Look for a tripped condensate float switch too. Stop and get a professional if a replacement fuse blows again. That fuse is a symptom of a short in the thermostat wiring, not a part to keep swapping. If you smell burning or see scorched wire, shut the furnace off at the breaker now. Pre-1990 Vinton, OH homes often lack a common wire, which is why many smart thermostat installs fail. A mini split head that runs but will not cool usually has a low refrigerant charge from a flare-joint leak, a blocked outdoor coil, or a failed fan or compressor capacitor. Water dripping from the indoor head is almost always the condensate drain, which relies on a gravity fall or a small pump that clogs with biofilm. A blinking timer or operation light is a stored fault code that tells a technician which sensor or board is reporting.
